Hello Everyone,
Last week I had the priviledge of meeting Ray and Carol Knotts, in Kalispell, Montana, who own a beautiful horse ranch with a custom built indoor arena, a gorgeous log home, and 40 acres in pasture surrounded by Montana's Glacier National Park and Great Bear Wilderness. What a beautiful place!
Ray and Carol bred Missouri Fox Trotters for many years, and are trail riders, who belong to the BackCountry Horseman organization. They were looking for the "perfect" trail horse, who would be comfortable to ride for days, steady and reliable, calm, athletic and sure-footed.
Back in the late 1990's, they found that balance between the "performance" traits and comfortability of the Missouri Fox Trotter, and crossed them with the "athletic" traits of the Le Canadien horse! I was very impressed with what they have been able to do, and now THIS spring, they will be "crossing their first crosses" in their fourth generation. That is, this will be the first pairing of a Missouri Fox Trotter/Le Canadien Stallion to a genetically similar group of mares, so they have been able to complete the cycle and in the spring of 2009 will fulfill a dream as the first of these NEW BREED BABIES are born!
To view the MONTANA MOUNTAIN HORSE WEBSITE, please visit:

Blessings,
Susieque
